Obama’s Record on Abortion: He Supports It Whenever, Wherever and For Whomever

I disagree with Senator Barack Obama’s political stance on just about every issue from the size and scope of government to foreign policy. But even if you threw out all those other reason’s, I would still have to oppose him on one issue of immense proportion: Abortion.

The Democratic presidential candidate was recently asked “When does a baby get human rights?” And this was his response: “Well, uh, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or, uh, a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know, is, is, uh, above my pay grade.” See the article in the Boston Herald.

You can see the hesitation in his voice and how uncomfortable he is with this issue. And rightly so, he has a horrendous record on the subject. Basically, he supports abortion whenever, wherever and for whomever. Let’s examine his record:

  • Obama voted to allow minors to cross state lines for abortion, and he voted against notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. Barack Obama on abortion from OnTheIssues.org.
  • When a state Senator in Illinois, Obama never supported the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. The Born Alive Infant Protection Act is legislation that requires doctors to give medical attention to infants that survive a botched abortion. Barack opposed it and here are Obama’s 10 reasons for supporting infanticide. By the way, this law was passed on the national level in 2002, before Obama was elected to the US Senate.
  • NARAL (the National Abortion Rights Action League) gave Barack Obama a score of 100% in 2005, 2006, and 2007 for his pro-abortion congressional record. On a side note, not knowing what NARAL stood for, I attempted to go to their Web site, but the Church internet filters preventing me from even going to the site. I had to look up the acronym on Wikipedia.
  • Obama has been rated 0% by the NRLC (National Right to Life Committee). A score of 0% – 15% indicates a pro-abortion stance, 16%- 84% is a mixed record on abortion and 85%-100% is a pro-life stance.
  • As I person who supports life and opposes abortion on-demand, I cannot support Barack Obama. And honestly, I do not understand how any pro-life, anti-abortion person could support him.
